Honoka’a, September 17th – Hamakua-Kohala Health (HKH) hosted the Accountable Health Care Alliance of Rural Oahu (AHARO) quarterly meeting. Members of the Board of Directors and CEOs of five clinics visited from Oahu and the Big Island to discuss Data Aggregation and the high costs associated, as well as the current payment system and changes coming next year.
The AHARO coalition is working hard to support each other by pooling each clinic’s patient base to make the presence of rural clinics more visible and increase our potency when negotiating with insurance companies.
HKH’s presentation was entertaining too. Board Member Fred Burian talked story about our 50 year history of serving the Hamakua Coast and 10 years in Northern Kohala.
We would like to extend many thanks to Tiffany Santiago, her husband Chauncey and her Halau for music and dancing so beautifully. Thank you Sylvia Yadao, for providing the decorations and making the pavilion at NHERC come alive with plants. Mehalani Maiku made delicious food and received many complements. Of course, we couldn’t have put the event together without the Stephanie Dullum, Jeff Zingg and Ben Zingg. Thank you all for your hard work!Call for appointments at either Hamakua-Kohala Health locations: Honoka’a – 775-7204 – 45-549 Plumeria St Kapa’au – 889-6236, 53-3925 Akoni Pule Hwy
