Our Mission

Today Hamakua Health Center continues to offer accessible and affordable health care services to the entire Hamakua coast including North Hawaii communities as far south as Waikoloa.

Hamakua Health Center, Inc. is a community owned and governed 501(c)(3) corporation whose mission is to provide accessible, quality health care and educational services which emphasize individual and community wellness regardless of an individual's ability to pay.

HHC became a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in 2001.
This means that we receive funding from the Bureau of Primary Health Care under section 330 of the Public Health Service Act as amended by the Health Centers Consolidation Act of 1996. With this funding comes a commitment to provide health services to underserved populations. This includes all people who face barriers in accessing services because they have difficulty paying for them, because they have language or cultural differences or because there is an insufficient number of health professionals/resources in the community.

Through generous federal, state, and county grants, donations from private donors and the dedication of all our employees, we are able to provide a comprehensive range of health, educational and preventive social services while treating the whole person in a quality, cost efficient and caring environment.

We are constantly striving to improve the quality and breadth of services we offer to the community.
